Who this notice is for

This notice is written for the parent or legal guardian of a child using Spelling Adventure. Your child does not need to read this notice — we have a separate, simpler version for them inside the app.

What we collect and why

We collect only what we need to run the app and improve it. We do not sell your data. We do not show advertising to your child.

From you (the parent)

From your child

We capture what your child does in the app so we can adjust difficulty, find what works for them, and improve the app for everyone. This includes:

We do not collect your child's full name, date of birth, photograph, school class, postal address, location, contacts, or any health information.

How we use the behaviour patterns we analyse

The app analyses your child's answers and behaviour to:

What happens when you delete your account

When you delete your account through the app or by email:

  1. Your child's data is removed from the live app immediately
  2. The account enters a 30-day grace period during which you can change your mind
  3. After 30 days, data is permanently deleted from our live systems
  4. Data may remain in encrypted backups for up to a further 30 days while our normal backup rotation completes, after which it is permanently deleted
  5. We keep an anonymised audit record (a deletion timestamp and consent version, with no personal data) for 7 years to demonstrate compliance — this cannot be linked back to you or your child
  6. We do not restore deleted accounts from backups, and we have technical controls to prevent accidental restoration
